The Blogger Who Stole Xmas

If you know me, you know at this time of the year I turn into a total scrooge.
A Grinch.
Bah Humbug!

Yep, I'm not a fan of Xmas, not a fan in the least.

Every year around this time, as the stores, radios and really the whole city start to Christmatize everything, I just wanna plug my ears and hide.
It's just a warning of things to come really.
"Just hear those sleigh bells ringing"..... Crowds of angry shoppers.
"Siiiiilent Night, Hooooooly Night"....Masses of rude retail workers.
"Up on the housetop"....Terrible cases of the "I wants" from people you love.
"With his corn cob pipe"....Shopping stress trying to find the one thing the kid absolutely wants and no one has in stock.

Yep, that's Xmas to me.
My most hated holiday.

I usually procrastinate on everything Xmas, the cards, the shopping, the wrapping, the baking...it all waits til the last minute.
And I don't dare take out anything Christmassy either until I hear the inevitable, "Are we ever gonna put up a tree this year?"

But I saw the little square of plaid and couldn't resist putting this ONE little card together.

I love the star on this card so much, it may be featured on this year's card.
It is layered with a tiny little star on top and a little twine right on top.

It's stamped on a chipboard coaster and then cut with my Sizzix.
(thanks Michele for making me pull that old thing outta my ebay pile!)
Those cork letters are from the Target $1 spot.

Now I know I am in the minority about this whole holiday thing.
I do realize that.
And I am sure that all you strong holiday supporters (greta) are cursing me out right now and hitting unsubscribe faster than cockroaches when the light comes on...
But I'm just speaking the truth about me.
What I like.
Or in this case dislike.
And letting everyone know upfront that I am sure this is not the last of the anti-Xmas posts for the season.
And there won't be as many holiday themed projects as you might expect.

Bah humbug!

Great card! and I'm totally with you on some of your comments! but once all the horrible stuff is out of the way, Christmas is fab! (and means at least a week and a half off work!-yipee!!)

Preachin to the choir. You should get together with my hubby. ;D. Anyway I love that card now with something that nice you should do MORE. I am kind of that way but over the years I have grown to like Christmas (or at least make myself like it) There is nothing more magical than a Christmas Tree all lit up Christmas Eve. OMG I just love that feeling. It's like the entire world is at the same wavelength and a calm just covers the globe while the little lights twinkle. I just love that. And stampin has kind of changed things for me too because now I can't get enough made (too many stamps so little time and yes I have that stamp too). I might case this one.

hahaha, you kill me!!! I love Christmas, except for the angry, rude shoppers and not being able to find the one gift my kid has to have, and not having any money when it's all over and done with, and putting the decorations away! but other than that, it's my favorite holiday, lol! BTW, I love your card, it's very cute!

You forgot to mention the most fun...driving around and around to try to find a darn parking spot! After 10 laps, I head to valet! The trick is NOT to wait until Dec 24th to shop! I try to be done by November's end.Picking up little gifts during the year is helpful too! It keeps the stress down! Alas, shop on line! If you are a touchie gotta feel it type, this approach may not work out! LOL! Our crafty approach is heart felt, handmade with love! To me it is the true meaning of the Christmas spirit. I do love the decorations, having had a retail store and doing theme windows each year was so much fun! Your star card is just the right touch to start the holiday concept(spirit) into your home! Ho Ho Ho! (Just to piss you off)!!! He he!

Simone,
You are hilarious! I hate the things about Christmas that you mentioned but I do gotta admit, I love so many things about Christmas!!!!! I love decorating our yard, decorating the tree, baking Christmas cookies, and the total excitement my kids have on Christmas morning. Plus, for the next month and a half, I have an extra incentive for my kids to behave cuz Santa is watching them and if they act up, they're not getting presents!!!!

LOVE the card! Why don't I ever think to use my Sizzix? I may have to CASE that one, for sure!

I love the "spirit" of Christmas. But I can't disagree that the overspending, crazy traffic, and added stress on everyone takes too much of the joy out of it, for sure.

I'm with ya. I used to love Christmas until I started dating a Scrooge..now I just don't decorate or anything or even start shopping until 1-2 weeks before hand.

I have to admit I love Christmas, but for what the true meaning is: celebrating Jesus' birth but who knows if that really happened on Dec 25! I hate the crowds of shoppers, the fact that you are expected to give gifts to ungrateful people out of obligation, I hate the stress involved. I do, however love the homebaked goodies, your card & your honesty!
